Abstract

The article describes the basic pedagogical principles for the development and creation of electronic textbooks for institutions of general secondary education, presented in the works of UNESCO scientists. The article clarifies the essence of this concept. The basic approaches to their classification are revealed, namely by functions (classical model, didactic model, digital platform model) and degree of interactivity (e-textbooks, b-textbooks, and-textbooks). The main factors that influence the quality of the textbook are described, including purpose, users, efficiency, standard, organizational system. The article also studies the criteria for evaluating the quality of e-textbooks (focus, concentration, support, interest) as well as the corresponding principles that specify these criteria (focus - accessibility, reduction, object and background, repetition, adjacency; support - scientific, genetic principle, multimedia and multimodality, interconnection, connectedness; interest - personalization, interactivity, reality). The essence and purpose of an e-textbook is clarified with the works of UNESCO scientists concerning the benefits of using e-books during the lesson (presentation of teaching material in different types and forms, improving the assessment of students' educational achievements, automatization of feedback, management of educational process, activity of the educational process, deepening understanding) and certain limitations (lack of computer support for schools; preparation and development of a lesson with interactive learning tools takes away the pain lack of computer literacy for teachers and students), as well as arguments for electronic textbooks for students, teachers, and parents. New opportunities offered by electronic textbooks in the learning process (providing logical lesson design; clarity of visual and graphic elements; increasing students' motivation and interest) have been identified. Prospects for using the experience of UNESCO scientists in the development of national electronic textbooks are formulated.
