Abstract

The article highlights and describes the use of modern information technology, namely recognition and speech synthesis Tell me More computer programme and the SmartKom system in various foreign languages learning. The basic principles of work with these programmes are analyzed, as well as students' ability to recognize speech pronunciation with the help of a computer, to demonstrate the pronunciation of certain languages using graphs, oscillograms, etc. The main advantages of the program are identified: development of all speech skills, enlarging vocabulary, fixing grammar material, the possibility of communicating computer-person and vice versa, the possibility of creating and storing information, visualizing pronunciation, using 3d animated clips, creating human-machine dialogical systems, creating conditions for self-education and self-improvement skills and abilities of students. In particular, the Tell me More program represents the performance of video footage with visual support, or without due to the level of students, the fixed detection of speech spelling mistakes, recognition and speech synthesis, the statement of the correct pronunciation. The author states that with the help of the indicated programs and technologies the speaker can investigate and identify the prosodic characteristics of speech, track the emotional attitude of a person to the information received. The basis of the multimodal dialogue system SmartKom is the study of the prosody of emotional speech, facial expressions of a person and tracking the emotional perception of the information received. The author focuses on the most important features of the above mentioned programs and projects, namely: accessibility, ease of use, ability to communicate and collaborate, including remote, to facilitate the effective independent work of students. These programs and projects are in line with the principles of multichannel learning, involving a large number of human senses, helping to eliminate language and psychological barriers, and are accompanied by positive emotions and success rates. Besides, individual students’ characteristics for perception of the educational material have been taken into account.
