Abstract
The article is devoted to theoretical understanding and development of a mixed process model for analysing and designing blended learning in the context of modern challenges, such as war, power and internet outages, which complicate traditional forms of education. Blended learning is seen as a flexible system that combines different forms, methods and technologies (traditional, distance, electronic, mobile) with an emphasis on learners' self-control over time, place, trajectory and pace of learning.
The purpose of the article is to develop a model of a mixed process and explore its application to the analysis and design of blended learning. The authors propose to consider blended learning through the prism of the characteristics of mixed processes, which are the basis for its understanding and modelling. The results of the study present a mixed process model (MPM) based on the concept of an agent (learning subject) with its own goals and freedom to choose actions from functionally equivalent alternatives. The model contains objects (agent, environment, providers), parameters (objective function, state vectors), actions and their impact on the system state. Mixed learning in terms of MFL is described as a process where an agent chooses optimal actions to achieve learning goals within the available resources and conditions. The article proposes an algorithm for selecting actions that takes into account the current state and the objective function of the agent, as well as the conditions for the effectiveness of blended learning from the perspective of the agent and the organisers of the blended learning environment.
The conclusions emphasise that the effectiveness of blended learning depends on the readiness of all participants (agents, organisers) to fulfil their roles and functions. The proposed model of mixed processes structures optimisation tasks, allowing to analyse and design blended learning as an adaptive system. It has been determined that the main goal of blended learning is to increase the probability of achieving the planned learning outcomes in the face of variability and limited resources.
