Abstract

This article is dedicated to analyzing the pedagogical potential of modern digital technologies in supporting collaborative activities among students in basic secondary school during computer science lessons. The study examines the capabilities of various groups of digital tools in the context of fostering students’ collaborative skills. The advantages of messengers, video conferencing systems, and social networks in enhancing students’ interaction skills, communication abilities, and organized and productive discussions are identified. Special attention is given to the benefits of tools that create a shared workspace, including collaborative document creation platforms (presentations, text documents, diagrams, word clouds, etc.), subject-specific online whiteboards, programming environments, and document-sharing platforms. These tools enable students to work simultaneously on the latest version of a document, edit and update content, track version history, leave comments, and more. The article explores the potential of platforms for sharing student work results and organizational tools that facilitate quick file sharing, activity structuring, and effective result presentation. These tools also contribute to the development of leadership skills and time management abilities. Additionally, the study highlights the role of competitive activity tools in fostering tolerance, mutual support, the ability to handle victories and losses appropriately, and a spirit of friendly competition. Attention is also given to artificial intelligence technologies, which can support the development of critical thinking, creativity, and self-confidence. Practical recommendations are provided for teachers on integrating these digital technologies into computer science education. A classification of digital tools suitable for supporting collaborative student activities in lower secondary school is proposed and presented. The article also includes relevant examples of software products available for educational purposes.
