Abstract

In order to enhance the utilization of the potential of the “Lesson” activity module in the Moodle distance learning management system and, consequently, to improve the quality of studying educational material, as well as to increase the engagement of both students and teachers in the educational process, this article proposes ways to use the elements of the “Lesson” activity module and logical structures of the training session. It is suggested to use the elements of the “Lesson” activity module in single-page, multi-page, and combined formats (with and without control questions), depending on the type of lesson and its informational content. Taking into account the educational purpose of the lesson (familiarization, presentation of information, study, knowledge control, etc.), logical structures of the lesson are proposed in the form of various linear and cyclic schemes, as well as a “trap” scheme. The fundamental principles recommended for consideration before creating a training session based on the “Lesson” activity module are identified. The study was conducted by testing the functioning of the training session structures according to the proposed logic, taking into account the optimal way of using the elements of the “Lesson” activity module. The results of the study were analyzed in terms of the expected educational and motivational outcomes. Proposals are made for combining methods of using the elements of the “Lesson” activity module with logical structures of the training session. For each variant of the methods and logical structures, recommendations for practical application are provided. Additionally, practical instructions are given on how to configure the “Lesson” activity module to ensure its correct operation and proper implementation of the training session logic. This article will be useful for academic and teaching staff who are confident in their knowledge and skills in course development within the Moodle system, as well as for those who are seeking to acquire skills in developing training sessions using the “Lesson” activity module.
