Abstract
The article analyzes the main approaches to defining the concept of scribing and its role in the educational process. It also singles out the following main advantages of scribing: originality, multiple-use, feedback from students, participation effect, cost-effectiveness, universal visualization, efficiency, concision and figurality, etc. Specific attention is paid to the disadvantages of using scribing in the educational process. It is found out that scribing motivates pupils to study, makes it possible to increase their attention to basic concepts and present educational material effectively, which contributes to enhancing the effectiveness of the educational process as a whole. It is specified that scribing can transform lecture notes into words and images, describe the relations and semantically highlight the basic concepts of educational material. It is revealed that it aims to present information in a dynamic, fast and quality way. Depending on the method of their elaboration, the main types of scribing (hand-made and automated) are generalized. It is clarified that hand-made scribing is divided into the following types: facilitation scribing, application scribing, magnet scribing and flannel graph scribing, whereas automated scribing includes video scribing, hand-drawn scribing and online scribing. It is stated that the type of scribing depends on a didactic goal and objectives of the lesson, technical facilities and the teacher’s skills needed to work with scribing. It is proved that most teachers do not comply with the main requirements while working with scribing, which in turn may result in its low effectiveness. The article justifies the importance of setting out clear requirements for scribing, which should contribute to enhancing the effectiveness of the educational process in secondary education institutions. It also singles out and describes the main groups of requirements for scribing, namely, content characteristics, specific characteristics (audio settings, image setting and text settings), design and use.
