Abstract

The article highlights the results of an experimental study on the formation of future educators’ digital skills. The national and international approaches to defining the nature and content of digital skills, use of ICT for their formation are characterized. The European Digital Competence Framework for Educators (DigCompEdu) was analyzed in six areas of activity (professional involvement; digital resources; teaching others and self-study; rating; empowering students; promoting the digital competence of education providers) in order to identify digital skills needed by modern educators. Five digital skills that form the basis of future educators’ digital competence (use of digital devices and ICT; search and critical evaluation of digital content; modification and creation of digital resources; information exchange and organization of digital communication; learn and teach to use ICT) have been singled out and criteria and indicators of their formation have been identified. The levels of development of future educators’ digital skills were determined, using the 100-point scale by the expression of indicators, namely: unsatisfactory level (20-59 points); satisfactory level (60-74 points); good - (75-81 points); very good (82-89); excellent - (90-100 points). The results of studying the levels of formation of digital skills of future elementary and pre-school teachers at the ascertaining stage of the study showed the need to develop technological tools for their formation. The scientific paper presents the author's training program "Designing a multimedia environment of general secondary education and preschool education" with the use of ICT. Comparative analysis of the results of the ascertaining and control stages of the empirical study conducted during 2018-2020 at the Pedagogical Institute of Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University, showed a positive dynamic of levels of students’ digital skills and proved the effectiveness of the implemented technological tools. The statistical significance of the study results was verified using Spearman's rank correlation coefficient.
