Abstract

The article suggests the structure of a virtual learning environment, which is a tool for supporting and activating student-centered education in Publishing and Printing specialty. Based on the analysis of theoretical and practical works on virtual learning systems and virtual learning environments, studying the characteristics of student-centered learning and the specificity of the image of the modern student of the “digital generation”, features of the subject matter of the specialty, a modular structure of the virtual learning environment has been developed. The structure is based on the idea of internal and external resource integration of such components as the basic platform (that is, the educational platform implemented by Moodle) and seven on-line content-oriented resource components (in the context of its printing and multimedia needs). The substantive content of the basic educational platform and on-line resource components of the educational content with examples of their content are considered. In the above resource components, the implementation of virtual and virtualized forms of organization of classes and corresponding teaching aids, means of interaction (individual and collective), methods of increasing the motivation of the “digital” student to learn and methods of enhancing his cognitive activity are carried out. It has been found that to support the student-centered learning process, it is necessary to provide a virtual learning environment with separate and at the same time interrelated components of two groups: 1) to support learning based on on-line interaction (proposed components of this group: individualization of professional interaction, teamwork and support of collective communication, support of interpersonal communication, free communication) and 2) components of resource support training (the proposed components of this group: improving the efficiency of the current operations of the professional direction, information on the specialty and collection of media content, emulation and simulation of objects and processes, cloud environments). The article contains an example of the implementation of a basic educational platform and an on-line component providing support for the process of visualization in the 3D space of creative microprojects of students of Publishing and Printing specialty.
