IMPROVING THE QUALITY OF DISTANCE EDUCATION AND ONLINE MONITORING OF STUDENTS ' INDEPENDENT WORK

Abstract

In the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, forced or emergency distance learning plays a significant role in supporting the educational process. A significant increase in the percentage of virtual learning has caused the necessity of improving the forms and methods of online communication between teachers and students, and increased control over independent work of students while checking the level of assimilation of knowledge (tests, exams, etc.) at their physical location and without the presence at the HEI campus.

The article considers the useful experience of the Ukrainian-American Concordia University in the implementation of various forms of partner distance learning:

  1. full (100%) online training – with online testing, examination, awarding bachelor's and master's degrees and online issuance of diplomas;
  2. b) partial online training – with personal physical acquaintance of teachers and future students during the entrance exams (tests); physical control of teachers (or trusted persons) over the process of acquiring students' education and the process of control testing; personal physical presence of teachers during the final exams and/or defense of bachelor's and master's qualification works;
  3. c) group or individual online training both on the campuses of foreign higher education institutions abroad, and at the place of physical location of students (at home).

The authors also analyze the results of the international pilot project on distance learning and the stages of further development of various forms and techniques of online learning in the institution. Presents the development and findings regarding experimental verification of the effectiveness of the use of advanced information technologies that allow teachers to get online to monitor the testing process and exams of students at their location, as well as oversee the process of self-performance of work of a large number of students (trainees) with proctoring. The experiment was carried out on the basis of the implementation of the technical approach "two gadgets", an innovative technology for tracking e-learning using the ЕуеРаѕѕ software package. It was experimentally confirmed the possibility of providing a procedure for online testing of individuals using electronic tools that allow monitoring the remote assessment process using telematics resources.
